Repsol Honda PS125i Debuts at Jerez
Repsol Honda Grand Prix stars Nicky Hayden and Dani Pedrosa could be seen darting around the Jerez MotoGP paddock on their brand new Honda PS125i paddock scooters at the Grand Prix of Spain in March. Painted in team colours, Honda’s mid-size 125cc scooters will provide essential transport for Hayden and Pedrosa when not on track during the 18-race 2007 MotoGP World Championship.
“The new ride definitely looks really good, especially in Repsol Honda colours,” enthused Honda’s World Champion Nicky Hayden. “It rides well too and certainly helps with cutting through the crowds - some of these paddocks in MotoGP are pretty big so a good scooter is really important,” continued the 25-year-old American who took a stunning victory in last year’s MotoGP title race. “As well as getting between the motorhome and the garage, I’ll probably use it to do a few familiarisation laps of the tracks on Thursday.”
Though the PS125i can’t quite match up to the 210+bhp of the Repsol Honda RC212V race bikes, they’ve got more than enough poke for the road. The new PS125i features a fully digital Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) system that sets the standard for fuel economy and clean emissions, while providing exceptionally strong, smooth and reliable performance. Like several of Honda’s latest fuel-injected scooters and large-displacement motorcycles, the new PS125i is also equipped with Honda’s most advanced HECS3 oxygen-sensing catalytic emissions system for the lowest exhaust emissions in its class.
Hayden’s team-mate, 21-year-old Spaniard Dani Pedrosa, had to fight through the huge throngs of eager supporters at his home Grand Prix on his PS125i and was also impressed with his new steed. “Paddock scooters are really essential, especially at races like this one because there are so many fans,” said last year’s MotoGP Rookie of the Year. “If you walk or stand still it’s basically impossible to get anywhere,” he continued. “The new scooter does a very good job. It’s easy to manoeuvre and plenty quick enough to out-run the crowds!” The PS125i has a relaxed and roomy riding position, features Honda’s safety enhancing Easy-Operation Combined Brake System.
