Your Authorised Honda dealer will be provided with a SmartWater pack by Honda (UK). The solution is simply painted onto the main components of your vehicle by the dealer during it's Pre-Delivery Inspection.
SmartWater is extremely robust and will withstand steam cleaning and even being baked in a oven at 125 degrees centigrade for 24 hours! As it is a fluid it can be put in areas of the motorcycle that are inaccessable or impossible to remove.
The police only need the smallest amount to identify the true owners of the bike. Details of owners are kept on a database maintained by the Forensic Science Service, the world renowned Government agency.
