We at Doble Motorcycles are pleased to announce that the NATIONAL MOTORCYCLE PARKING TAX'S 18 month long trial, currently being conducted by Westminster City Council, is entering its last 3 months, set to end February 2010.
Westminster council is the pilot area for this plan and has been charging for previously free parking since August 2008 net over £4,000,000. Introduced at the rate of £150.00 per bike, money that will have to be paid every year. So you can see why we at Doble Motorcycles wish you to know how you can stop this tax being made both permanent and rolled out nationally.
The tax is collected by putting a sign on a pole in the pavement next to what was a free M/c parking bay: You park and then phone the telephone number on the board, you give over your bike registration number, your bank account details, and quote the location number on the sign. Then when a traffic warden types in a bike’s registration numbers into their handheld computers they can confirm if you have paid. If you have not paid, then you will get a standard £60 to £120 fine.
We feel that this plan will detract from the enjoyment you get from your motorcycle and as such we wish you to know that you have the right to object to it even if you don't live or travel into Westminster.
For those of you who live within travelling distance of Westminster you may like to know that there will be a protest ride out after work, on Monday 7th December 2009.
If you are not working on the day, you could go to the Ace Cafe, and be part of the ride along the West Way into Westminster enjoying the Christmas lights and sights; the demo will be leaving at 5.00pm to arrive at Park Lane car park between 6.00pm and 6.45pm.
If you are working then the demo will be leaving Park Lane car park at 6.45pm going through Westminster on to “The Department of Communities & Local Government” in Bressenden Place SW1, to demand a Public enquiry into the unacceptable actions of Westminster CC Parking department.
The average turnout for these ride outs is over 3000 riders and makes quite a sight. We hope that if you can make it that you will enjoy yourself. All the details are available at www.notobikeparkingfees.com if however you live too far from Greater London to attend you can still have your say. All you need to do is go to the “No To Bike Parking Fees” website and follow these steps:
Register your email address so that you can stay informed about the progress of the protest.
Using the 'Objection' option on the website, register your objection by following the instructions.
Click donate on the website, and give the value of one tank of fuel to the growing legal fund, to stop Westminster CC in the courts if they don’t drop this tax. (Your fellow riders have already raised £30,000 towards the £50,000 target).
We hope that you will ensure that your friends and family who ride are made aware of this issue so that they too can continue to enjoy free parking everywhere they ride. We thank you for your attention to this email and we hope that you continue to enjoy your motorcycle whatever type you ride.

It has come to our attention at Doble Motorcycles that there is an on-going plan to roll out parking charges nationally for all motorcycles, so that no matter where you live you will be effected by parking charges for motorcycles in the coming months. Westminster council is the pilot area for this plan and has been charging for previously free parking since August 2008.
We feel that this plan will detract from the enjoyment you get from your motorcycle and as such we wish you to know that you have the right to object to it even if you don't live or travel into Westminster.
If you live within travelling distance of Westminster you may like to know that there will be a protest ride out on 1st July 2009 in Westminster, it will be after work and go on for most of the evening with 5000 riders expected to attend and we hope that if you can make it that you will enjoy yourself.
