The harsh winter has taken a serious toll on the country's roads. The freezing weather has caused any small imperfections in the road surface to become almost unavoidable pot holes. These pot holes are damaging and distressing enough to car drivers, but motorcycle riders face a clear and present danger when taking to the roads.
We at Doble Motorcycles want to highlight this potentially fatal issue, and to do so we need your help. We have created a petition to be presented to the Prime Minister to ask for urgent action to be taken to repair the roads and make them safe for all users. Please visit our petition and if you agree with the points raised please add your support to it, and spread the word.
Also it would be great to try to find the "Worst Pothole" and the "Worst Potholed Road" to support our campaign, so keep your camera or phone handy when you are out and about and snap any potholes you come across. Send the pictures and their locations to us at potholed@doble.co.uk so we can use them to support this campaign, and feature them here on the site.
I am an older experienced rider, but was quite shocked and damaged by a slide on loose stones in pot holes, the accident happened rapidly without chance of recovery. The road has still not repaired 7 weeks later.
The location is Rochford Way, bordering onto Elmtree Avenue, Frinton-on-Sea, Essex CO13. Incidentally the road appears to have just had a light skim over several years ago and I have asked Essex County Council Highways Department to provide details of the material used, the thickness required and how long this surface should have lasted under the Freedom of Information Act, so far no response. I am a serious motorcyclist completing Snowsun Tours to Austria last June.
Remember we can't do this on our own, and the more people that add their support to this issue the better the chance of highlighting it to the authorities, so spread the word and lets get these roads sorted.
