The Fazer 600 marked the beginning of Yamaha’s highly successful Fazer series. Launched primarily for the European market, the first-generation Fazer 600 combined sporty performance with everyday practicality. Built around the proven engine of the YZF600R Thundercat, the Fazer offered a detuned yet still punchy inline-four engine that delivered strong midrange torque, making it suitable for both spirited riding and commuting. Riders appreciated its smooth power delivery, making it friendly for new riders while still fun for experienced ones. One of the standout features of the Fazer was its upright riding position paired with a half-fairing design. This setup gave it excellent wind protection and comfort over long distances, unlike more aggressive sport bikes of the era.
